Kyle Lowry got hot early, scoring 8 points in the quarter. DeMar DeRozan struggled to get points on the board, but he was still effective by recording 3 assists. Mavericks' center Maxi Kleber recorded 3 blocks, which boosted their momentum. At the end of the 1st quarter, Toronto was losing 23-31.

Delon Wright started the quarter off aggressive, slamming a fast break dunk off a steal within the first 2 minutes. Similar to the 1st quarter, Kyle Lowry again scored 8 points. The Mavs' Dirk Nowitzki scored 7 points, proving that he was still dominant despite his age. The Raptors trailed 53-57 going into halftime.
