Running a 10k Virtually with Rogue Energy

D.J. and I ran our annual BTN Big 10k on July 10th! I went to Michigan State and D.J. went to Purdue, so we always find it fun to represent our schools at the BTN Big 10k! The race swag includes a running t-shirt for your school of choice and a medal. The race still offered a virtual option so we could participate again this year from Arizona. We attended our first BTN Big 10k in 2015 in Chicago while we were still living there. We thought that run in the middle of July was hot and humid, which it was, but then we decided to move to the Phoenix area about a year later, so now our temperatures are over 110 lately.

Sunday was a high of 111 in Phoenix, so we got up bright and early at 4:45 am to run the virtual race! Since the twins were still asleep and someone had to stay home with them, I ran it on the treadmill and D.J. ran it outside. It was a difficult run for both of us because we hadn’t run in a while, partly because of the heat. I felt pretty strong at miles 1-2 and miles 3-4 were the toughest for me and the mental toughness can feel as hard as the physical difficulty. I always give the last couple miles of a run or any race my all.

To help me on my run, I put Strawberry Kiwi Rogue Energy powder in my water and I drank it while running I felt it gave me an energy boost to help me get through the run! I usually need an extra push to get me through the last couple of miles and I’m thankful that Rogue Energy helped me with that. One scoop of Rogue per 16 ounces of water and voila! Rogue also has Rogue Hydration powder and we all know how important hydration is especially in this summer heat!

The best part after finishing the run was jumping in the pool to cool off!
