Kyle Lowry came out firing to start the game, scoring 12 points. DeMar DeRozan added 7 points of his own as the Raptors were putting on an offensive clinic. Toronto struggled to guard Andrew Wiggins as he dropped 14 points. With about 2:27 left in the quarter, Wiggins posterized Jakob Poeltl on a driving dunk. This ignited the crowd and got the Minnesota bench fired up. Toronto led 28-26 at the end of the 1st quarter.

Lowry and DeRozan combined for 12 points in the 2nd quarter which helped the Raptors add to their lead. With 2:51 left in the 1st half, Wiggins again posterized Poeltl, this time getting the dunk off of a baseline drive. Wiggins continued his dominance on offense as he scored 8 points in the quarter. C.J. Miles played excellent defense in the quarter, recording 3 blocks all on Shabazz Muhammad. The Raptors led the Timberwolves 62-54 going into halftime.
