Member Review - D.J. Fluck of Stadium Scene

There's a reason the signature race is known as "The Greatest Spectacle In Racing" because it is.  You could go here every year for ten years and experience something different every time.  If you have time, swing by the Hall of Fame Museum in the infield where you can see the Marmon Wasp, the winner of the first Indianapolis 500 in 1911.

If you head there during the offseason, play a round of golf.

Stadium Information

About Indianapolis Motor Speedway:

Indianapolis Motor Speedway is home to the annual Indy 500 and Brickyard 400. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway opened in 1909 with balloon races and at one point, the track was paved with 3.2 million bricks, and later paved over with concrete except for 1 yard at the finish line. Today there is a golf course inside the speedway!

Tour Info:

There are two on-track experiences you can choose from. The first is The Indy Racing Experience Two-Seater, in which you can drive in an IndyCar that elite drivers have raced in. A passenger can sit behind the driver in this experience. The second on-track experience is a 60-90 minute tour including time spent in a comfortable tour bus on the race track. Here you will learn about the speedway's history.

Security Screenings:

Like almost all US and Canadian Stadiums, you will need to enter through a metal detector before entering the stadium.  Be sure to give yourself extra time and don't bring any weapons or devices that could be seen as a weapon inside.  Pat down searches may be required.

Bag Policy:

One soft-sided bag OR hard or soft-sided cooler no larger than 14" x 14" x 14" may be brought into the track.  All bags subject to search before entry.

Note: Bag and security policy listed above are for typical sporting events. Special events, concerts, and other situations may result in variation to the policy. Please check event website for any changes or variation.

Parking & Transportation

Parking Options

There are multiple parking lots around the stadium. Check the track website for more information. Be prepared to walk.

We're setting up a partnership with a new parking company. Stay tuned for more details!

Bus Service:

There is a shuttle that will get you to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from four different locations around town. See IMS Shuttle for more information.

Rail Service:

There is no rail service for this track.

Taxi & Rideshare Service:

There is no designated drop-off/pick-up locations for this track. Traffic gets very congested on race day, so it's better to park and walk.
