There's a reason the signature race is known as "The Greatest Spectacle In Racing" because it is. You could go here every year for ten years and experience something different every time. If you have time, swing by the Hall of Fame Museum in the infield where you can see the Marmon Wasp, the winner of the first Indianapolis 500 in 1911.
If you head there during the offseason, play a round of golf.

Indianapolis Motor Speedway is one of the most iconic venues in motorsports, hosting the Indianapolis 500 and a variety of major racing events on its historic oval and road course.
Located in Speedway, Indiana, the track is primarily accessed by car, with extensive parking and shuttle options available during major events.
The massive grandstands offer a range of viewing experiences, from close-up action to wide views of multiple corners.
Concessions are spread throughout the venue, offering a mix of traditional and regional options.
Race day is a full-day experience, with traditions, fan activities, and a festival-like atmosphere surrounding the event.
Like almost all US and Canadian Stadiums, you will need to enter through a metal detector before entering the stadium. Be sure to give yourself extra time and don't bring any weapons or devices that could be seen as a weapon inside. Pat down searches may be required.
Public Transit: There is a shuttle that will get you to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from four different locations around town. See IMS Shuttle for more information. There is no rail service for this track.
Rideshare: There is no designated drop-off/pick-up locations for this track. Traffic gets very congested on race day, so it's better to park and walk.
